The Children’s PowerPlay! Campaign is a multilingual program designed to help low-income 9- to 11-year old children and their families eat more fruits and vegetables and get more exercise every day.
Our team created a new strategy and tools to bring attention to the importance of active play in a child’s life, especially during the summer months when studies show that kids are likely to gain weight away from school’s structured environment.
We developed the “Power Up Your Summer! Challenge,” which included a media relations strategy, bilingual outreach tools and training to help Regional Coordinators statewide implement the Challenge throughout California.
Since launching Power Up Your Summer! in 2009, the Children’s PowerPlay! Campaign continues to use the promotion and materials, making it an integral part of their summer outreach.
